I started playing the drums right after I got saved. My parents didn’t think I could do it because I couldn’t dance and had no rhythm whatsoever. My first drum set was a CB, and actually James taught me my first rhythm pattern on that; and Tommy taught me my second pattern. It just went from there. I would practice a couple of hours a day. About three years later I started taking lessons from David Rollins from Pocket Full Of Rocks, and I am now the proud owner of a 6 piece DW kit with a Cadence snare, sabian cymbals, remo heads, and an aquarian super kick for the bass drum.
My musical influences are David Rollins, Shane and Shane, Dave Matthews, Casting Crowns, Pocket Full Of Rocks, Dream Theater, Lester Estelle and Shelley Green. I have Pillar in my CD player right now. I have been playing with Shelley ever since I started playing drums which has been about 9 years now. When I’m not playing drums I like to record in mine and James’s studio, hang out with friends, play volleyball, and eat. My favorite meal would be a juicy ribeye from Texas Roadhouse, corn on the cob from Chili’s, cheese fries from Outback and garlic biscuits from Red Lobster. I love to take long moonlit walks on the beach . . . just kidding! There are no beaches in Winnsboro.
I was saved when I was about 12. A guy invited us to a drama at a local church. My entire family got saved that night, and our lives have never been the same since. My latest life’s lesson is to never put anything before God. He doesn’t like to share His space in our lives with anybody or anything which unfortunately I found out the hard way. The good news is He loves us and never lets go of us.
